Modern Maori tattoos (especially in the west) have moved from the face to the body. Long, twining spiral designs that were once placed near the ears or cheeks are now placed along the arms or legs. However, many Maori people find exact replicas of their art insulting. For this reason, many people who are not affiliated with the Maoris prefer to use designs inspired, but not directly taken from, these traditional styles.

One way to separate the Maori tattoos, and what could possibly be an insulting western
rendition is to use the striking spirals to create other symbols. For instance, rather than
using the rounded and graceful spirals, you could make a squared off version, and create an

interesting puzzle-like pattern. You could also use heavy lines and create a scene of waves, clouds, billowing winds, or even fire. Many people like to include reds and dark shades of blue into their designs; they will occasionally use orange and yellow as well if their patterns include things such as the sun, moon or stars. Metallic colors are generally used to produce weapon designs such as intricate knives, swords, or even throwing stars. Burgundy and purple can be used for a variety of spiraling flower blossoms.

Given the beauty of these designs, it may be tempting to delve into this style of art, but it is important to remember that they have a significant meaning to the Maori people. Tattooing is considered a sacred act, and must — like any other cultural symbol — be respected.

Tribal Rose tattoo-the raw but delicate Sex Appeal
A couple of knots that hang around form the stem. The high flames that burn, give shape to the petals and leaves. A rose, which is a symbol of love and perfection, is given a slight twist through the creation of this tribal rose tattoo.
A very natural and attractive tribal rose tattoo is a very popular tattoo amongst women. While a rose can symbolize many things like love, care, friendship, respect etc, it depends on the color and design that you chose your tattoo to go with.
This Tribal rose tattoo in the pic is an interesting combination of Celtic and tribal design. This raw but delicate beauty running through the spine of the lady is conveying oodles of sex appeal.

Upper Back Tattoos Design

If you are considering your first tattoo could do worse than to have it be an upper back tattoo. The human back makes an ideal canvas for a tattoo artist’s needles.
Angel Tattoo Designs

Some recognize guardian angels as the highest class because of all that they do for the living. Although angels are correctly identified as beings living under God, people have interpreted them differently. Some illustrate a saddened fallen angel, while others represent adorable, cheery cherubs. The tattoo can portray a happy, peaceful angel or a protective guardian angel. While the wings are cute and subtle, an entire angel can depict exactly what you want them to be thinking and feeling.
Full-bodied angel tattoo designs are just as or even more popular than angel wing tattoos. Smaller angel wing tattoos are much easier to hide and some find them more attractive. Some people just don't want an enormous tattoo covering their backs. It's all about your personal preference. So how do you know what size to get?
Some span the entire area of people's back while others are small enough to fit nicely on your ankle. Angel wing tattoos can be found in many shapes and sizes. Angels stand for so much more than that. However, not everyone who decides on angel wing tattoos or angel tattoo designs is getting them because of religious reasons.
They are very spiritual; these tattoos are around the most religious out there! Angels are some of the purest creatures that one can choose to ink on their bodies. And why not? There is no doubt that angel and angel wing tattoos have become extremely popular in recent years.
Bali Tattoo Art
There are a few decisions that you need to get absolutely right before you get a tribal back tattoo.
Cost is very important but so are the health and safety aspects. You want to make sure that the tattoo parlor you are going to use is considered safe as well as cool. If you have used the tattoo parlor then that is OK but if not then you really need someone to have checked it out before, which I will come to later.
Being unique is something we all enjoy naturally and so it is with our bodyink designs. One of the problems with checking out designs on the web are that they are on someone else. Have you ever been to a party and worn the exact same clothes design as some one that is already there? I was so embarrassed I almost died!
So how do you avoid duplicating body art? One way that I have discovered is by visiting an online resource where you get access to your own designer that is a specialist in tribal back tattoos. This professional can talk through your needs and come up with a solution and a great design.
Another spin off that I found is that the website usually has a forum where you can chat about your experiences and also get tips about which local tattooists are the best in terms of cash, health and designs.
Money is tight but let us be clear this design will be with us for a lifetime.
Some of the designs that are inked into our bodies are rich in ancient mystical heritage from the very birth of mankind. Stories of great battles are often depicted in the tribal designs from the ancient years of history.
The designs tell of fertility rights and were also a sign to the gods that the bearer of these ancient shapes and whirls should be blessed with many children so that they too could carry on the tradition of adorning the tribal tattoos on their bodies with the greatest of pride.
